Itinerary: Day 1 Arrival in Beijing
Arrival in Beijing, our guide will greet you at the airport and transfer to hotel. Free time at leisure.
Day 2 Beijing (B, L)
Full day trip to the Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Temple of Heaven. Enjoy the Peking Opera Show in the evening.
1.The Tian'anmen Square: The largest city square in the world.
2.The Forbidden City: The largest imperial palace in China for 24 emperors’ reign during the Ming and Qing dynasties with a history of around 600 years.
3.The Temple of Heaven: a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design where the ancient emperors used to pray for the God's bless of the whole nation.
Day 3 Beijing (B, L, D )
Full day trip to the Great Wall,Ming Tomb and Sacred road. Enjoy a famous Peking Duck for dinner.
1.The Great Wall: One of the great wonders in the world and the symbol of China.
2.The Ding Tomb: an underground palace for a Ming-dynasty emperors’ afterlife.
3.The Sacred Road: “the way leading to Heaven” which is guarded on both sides with 12 stone statues
Day 4 Beijing/Xian by flight (B, L)
Visit the Hutongs by rickshaw. Take afternoon flight to Xi'an. Arrive at Xian. Be met & transferred to visit Ancient City Wall.
1.Hutongs: the unique street design to Beijing – some crisscrossing old narrow paths with courtyard houses built on each side. It can be regarded as a window into Beijing folk life.
2.Ancient City Wall: the best-kept and biggest city walls in China.
Day 5 Xian (B, L)
Visit the Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Museum, the Bell Tower and the Wild Goose Pagoda.
1.The Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses Museum: one of the most important archaeological finds in the 20th century; an army of terra-cotta warriors and the bronze chariots entombed in vast underground vaults at emperor Qin's tomb since 2200 year ago.
1.The Bell Tower: first built in 1384, the largest and best preserved of its kind.
2.The Wild Goose Pagoda: the city emblem, which was first built in Tang Dynasty for the storage of Buddhist scriptures taken from India by Monk Xuanzang.
Day 6 Xian/Dunhuang by flight (B, L)
Take a flight to Dunhuang. Be met and transfer to hotel. Visit Yumen Guan Pass and the Great Wall of Han Dynasty (about 2000 years ago).
1.The Yumen Guan Pass: Once as one of the west gates out of the country of the Han Dynasty (206 B. C. -220 A. D.), it is quite ruined by the shifting sands but still shows the ever splendor.
2.The Great Wall of the Han Dynasty: Though made in clay and bulrushes, the wall still remains very well.
Day 7 Dunhuang/Turpan by train (B, L)
Visit the Mogao Caves and the Crescent Lake. In the evening, take the overnight train to Turpan.
1.The Mogao Caves: the 492 cells and cave sanctuaries in Mogao are famous for their statues and wall paintings, spanning 1,000 years of Buddhist art.
2.The Crescent Lake: a beautiful small crescent-shaped pond at where the sand dunes and the oasis meet.
Day 8 Turpan (B, L)
Be met and transfer to visit the Gaochang Ancient City, the Astana Tombs, and the Flaming Mountain.
1.The Gaochang Ancient City: First built in the first century B.C., a strategic point along Silk Road. It was abandoned around 14th century.
2.The Astana Tombs: the public cemetery for the residents of Gaochang city, not it has become part of Turpan underground Museum.
3.The Flaming Mountain: 10km east of Turpan. When the sun's rays beat down in mid-afternoon, the red rocks on the crisscross gullies and ravines reflect and the heat is intense as if the hillsides were engulfed by tongues of fire, hence the name.
Day 9 Turpan/Urumqi by car (B, L)
Visit the Karez System, the Emin Minaret, and the Grape Valley. Drive to Urumqi.
1.The Karez System: an irrigation system connected by 5000km underground channels and is considered as “Underground Great Wall” in China.
2.The Emin Minaret: built in 1777 to commemorate the general of Turpan - Emin Khoja, who achieved brilliant military success in defending the unification of China.
3.The Grape Valley: possibly the best place in the world to enjoy sweet grapes.
Day 10 Urumqi (B, L)
Full day tour to Heavenly Lake.
1.Heavenly Lake: the most beautiful lake along Silk Road.
Day 11 Urumqi/Kashgar by flight (B, L)
Visit the Southern Pasture and Khazak Yurts. Take a flight to Kashgar. Be met and transfer to hotel.
1.The Southern Pasture: Located in the valley of Tian Mountain, the pasture is a very beautiful nice place for graze with mountains, valleys, fountains, waterfalls, cypress and pine trees.
2.The Khazak Yurts: Of the three main types of yurt in use today, Khazak yurts, with a bent-wood roof and crown, are mainly used by Uygur people.
Day 12 Kashgar/Urumqi by flight (B, L)
Visit Id Kah Mosque, the Abakh Khoja Tomb and the local kindergarten. Take an evening flight to Urumqi.
1.Id Kah Mosque: built in 1426. It is the largest mosque in Xinjiang and the centre of the Moslem activities
2.The Abakh Khoja Tomb: served as the family tomb of Abakh Khoja, the powerful ruler of Kashgar in the 17th century who was revered as a prophet and second only to Mohammed.
Day 13 Urumqi/Shanghai by flight (B, L)
Transfer to take flight to Shanghai. Be met & transferred to visit the Bund, then check in hotel.
The Bund: Shanghai's famous waterfront to see new-erect modern skyscrapers and aged buildings of the colonial period.
Day 14 Shanghai (B)
Free day at leisure.
Day 15 Shanghai departure
Transfer to airport and fly to your next destination.
