As China's first large listed airport company renamed from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport Co., Ltd., Shanghai International Airport Co., Ltd. is a joint-stock limited company solely initiated by Shanghai Airport Authority and set up in the form of raising funds after being approved by Shanghai Municipal Government.

Shanghai Hongqiao Airport for transactions at Shanghai Securities Exchange. On June 28th, 2000, the company was renamed as "Shanghai International Airport Co., Ltd.", with its stock abbreviation renamed as "Shanghai Airport".

The company primarily engages in providing ground handling service to domestic and foreign airlines and passengers, leasing aviation business space, commercial space and offices inside the airports, advertising, operating other logistics business related to airfreight, comprehensive development, operating other investment projects allowed by policies of government.

The company avails itself of the resource advantage of Shanghai International Airport, relies on the operation management mode of "one city, two airports", makes clear the business structure of "one body, two wings", carries out in an all-round manner the guiding ideology that takes benefit as the core, and safety and service as the basis. After nearly six years of vigorous development since its successful listing, we have achieved great social and economic benefits, received attention from the whole industry and won praise from the entire society, and offered vast stockholders rich and generous repayment.

Since 1998, the company has been chosen into top 15 Shanghai local profit-making listed companies for three consecutive years, and was successfully chosen into Top 50 listed companies continuously from 1998 to 2001; compared with the initial stage after listing, the company's revenue from major business and total assets in 2001 increased by 82% and 90% respectively.

By the end of 2002, the company has smoothly realized the third safety year for Shanghai Pudong Airport and the fifteenth safety year for Hongqiao International Airport, over fifty domestic and foreign airlines have opened air routes to Shanghai. Schedule flight services have been provided to over seventy domestic cities, and sixty foreign and regional cities, and the company has become one of the most important hub airports in China. In October 2002, we successfully moved international and Hong Kong & Macao flight transfer from Hongqiao Airport to Pudong Airport.

In 2002, Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport accommodated a total of 225167 aircraft movements, up by 16% compared with last year; and passenger turnover reached 24.68 million, up by 19.46%; and cargo & mail turnover amounted to 1.31 million tons, a sharp increase of 31.7% as compared to last year.
